hen do pottery in edinburgh | we come to you

£60.003 h

pottery party, at your place

we bring the clay to your airbnb, flat, or wherever the hen do is happening. no taxis, no coordinating twelve people across edinburgh in heels, no one getting lost in gorgie.

two hours of making something with your hands. works whether the group's on the prosecco or half of them have never met. nobody is good at this. that's the entire point.

no wheels, no queueing

this is hand building — pottery without the wheel. which is the good news, because it means everyone works at the same time instead of taking turns while eleven people watch.

we'll show you three ways to build with clay:

pinch pots — start with a ball of clay and your thumbs. the oldest technique there is, and somehow still the most satisfying.

coiling — roll long sausages of clay and stack them into a wall. this is where things get wonky and personal.

slab building — roll the clay flat and cut shapes, then join them. good for anyone who likes a straight edge, or thinks they do.

you'll get the hang of at least one of them. probably not all three, and that's fine.

what you'll actually make

mugs, bowls, little dishes for rings and earrings, vases, candle holders, something deeply strange for the bride. we bring stamps and texture tools so you can press patterns, initials, dates, or inside jokes into the clay.

hand building is the format where things come out looking handmade rather than perfect, which is much better for a hen do than a room of identical bowls.

how it works

we turn up with everything — clay, tools, aprons, texture stamps, boards, the lot. we set up, teach the whole thing, and clean up after. you don't move furniture or find a sink.

then we take everything away, glaze and fire it in the kiln, and get the finished pieces back to you a couple of weeks later. so the hen do keeps arriving in the post long after the hangover's gone.

why it works for a hen do

it's two hours where everyone actually talks to each other, which is more than most hen do activities manage. the shy ones relax because there's something to do with their hands. the loud ones get to be loud. nobody has to be good at it.

and everyone goes home with something they made, instead of a hangover and a group photo where two people are blinking.
